World Book Day
In Year 6 Mahogany, we had a fun-filled ‘World Book Day.’ We took part in a number of ‘story telling’ inspired activities throughout the day. In the morning, we used the outdoor environment to search for four objects to use as a stimulus for stories that we had to create. Once we had found some objects (albeit rather unusual objects: a toy lion, an oyster card, a scratch card) we came back to class and worked as a team to verbally construct our stories involving the four objects that we had found. We then used our communication and creativity skills to retell our stories to the rest of the class. In the afternoon, we made a special visit to Year 2 where we were given the opportunity to read with the Key Stage 1 children and were able to support them with their reading.
